Waiting on Wednesday (29)

May 7, 2014 waiting on wednesday 3

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming books that we are eagerly waiting to read.

This Week:
One Past Midnight by Jessica ShirvingtonOne Past Midnight by Jessica Shirvington

Release Date: July 22, 2014
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Children’s

Above all else, though I try not to think about it, I know which life I prefer. And every night when I Cinderella myself from one life to the next a very small, but definite, piece of me dies. The hardest part is that nothing about my situation has ever changed. There is no loophole.

Until now, that is…

For as long as she can remember, Sabine has lived two lives. Every 24 hours she Shifts to her ′other′ life – a life where she is exactly the same, but absolutely everything else is different: different family, different friends, different social expectations. In one life she has a sister, in the other she does not. In one life she′s a straight-A student with the perfect boyfriend, in the other she′s considered a reckless delinquent. Nothing about her situation has ever changed, until the day when she discovers a glitch: the arm she breaks in one life is perfectly fine in the other.

With this new knowledge, Sabine begins a series of increasingly risky experiments which bring her dangerously close to the life she′s always wanted… But just what – and who – is she really risking?

Why I’m Waiting
I know I haven’t done one of these in quite awhile but I want to start doing them again. I think they are a great way to highlight a future book and because of that, I’m going to be picking books that aren’t the most buzzed about book out there. You already know about those books. There are hundreds of great books being published that deserve a lot more buzz in my opinion!

With that being said, I can’t wait for ONE PAST MIDNIGHT. I haven’t seen much about this book around the interwebz but after browsing Bloomsbury’s summer catalog I just knew I needed this book. I’ve only read a couple of books with parallel universes and from the looks of it, ONE PAST MIDNIGHT is going to be such a unique take on that principle! And the fact that Sabine is aware of these two different lives has me sold even more. I couldn’t imagine having to switch lives from one day to the next. It would be exhausting! I’m super excited about this one!

What are you waiting on this week?

Christine

I can’t wait to read this. It’s on NG, fyi. I’ve been excited to read it since it came out overseas last year under the title Between the Lives. I love parallel world stories. Great pick!
