Waiting on Wednesday (15)

November 20, 2013 waiting on wednesday 12

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming books that we are eagerly waiting to read.

This Week:

Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Release Date: July 22, 2014
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

What’s your worst nightmare?

For Ivy Jensen, it’s the eyes of a killer that haunt her nights. For Parker Bradley, it’s bloodthirsty sea serpents that slither in his dreams.

And for seven essay contestants, it’s their worst nightmares that win them an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at director Justin Blake’s latest, confidential project. Ivy doesn’t even like scary movies, but she’s ready to face her real-world fears. Parker’s sympathetic words and perfect smile help keep her spirits up. . . at least for now.

Not everyone is so charming, though. Horror-film fanatic Garth Vader wants to stir up trouble. It’s bad enough he has to stay in the middle of nowhere with this group—the girl who locks herself in her room; the know-it-all roommate; “Mister Sensitive”; and the one who’s too cheery for her own good. Someone has to make things interesting.

Except, things are already a little weird. The hostess is a serial-killer look-alike, the dream-stealing Nightmare Elf is lurking about, and the seventh member of the group is missing.

By the time Ivy and Parker realize what’s really at stake, it’s too late to wake up and run.

Why I’m Waiting
First, I have to talk cover love. Look at that font, perfect for a creepy book like this! And look at that carousel in the background! Nothing is more horror-y than a carousel at night. And that girl is just walking right up to it. I just want to scream at her to stop and turn around! Don’t go by the carousel! I mean, really, it’s the perfect scene for something terrible to happen.

Now, aside from the perfect cover that has me already trembling and ready to crack open the book, let’s talk summary. It’s awesome that these characters are willing to share their fears with everyone and then face them. This sounds like an awesome and suspenseful thriller and I’m really excited about this title. I can’t wait to see what this secret project is, why someone is missing, and what is really going on behind the scenes. I love scary movies and it sounds like Ivy and the other contestants are about to live in one. I’m hoping it is written like an actual scary movie and has me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Fingers crossed!

Yes! I’ve been interested in more thriller books lately and I hope that they all meet the expectations. Although, Disney hasn’t failed me yet 🙂 So many different questions with this one and I hope you enjoy it all. Great pick!

I’ve been loving everything Disney has released recently so I have high hopes for this. I’ve been in a thriller mood for the past month or so and reading all the things. Stinks this doesn’t come out until next summer, but I’m just so excited about it I couldn’t wait to do this WOW later ha.

This definitely sounds like a creepy read, especially something about being at a carnival! Serial killers are so in right now for YA haha. Awesome pick, thanks for sharing!

    Here’s my WoW (:

You know, I hadn’t thought about that but you are completely right. It seems that there are a lot of serial killer books being released recently. I am not complaining! I love this stuff. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I know! This one sounds so awesome and scary. You are so right, there really is nothing as spooky as a carousel at night. It’s the music, I think. I love what Disney-Hyp has been putting out lately. Great pick!
