Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish where we get to make fun bookish lists!

This week’s topic is a broad one that revolves around characters who ____. So even though it’s technically fall now (YAY!) I thought I would do a wrap up of some of my favorite summer books where the characters have interesting and sometimes fun summer jobs!

I’m excited to see what other people decided to do this week!

Ready? Let’s go!

Books that feature characters who have fun summer jobs!

How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer

How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer

Zoe won an internship job at Disney World’s greatest rival, Fairyland Kingdom. You get to experience the ins and outs of what it’s like to work for a major theme park and all the drama that goes along with it. This was such a fun read!

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Andie, our MC, has had some unexpected things happen recently including starting a job as a dog walker. Sounds easy right? Try juggling an entire day worth of walks, food schedules, and picky pets. Morgan Matson’s books are phenomenal and even though they may look long, you won’t be able to put them down!

once and for all by sarah dessen

Once and for All by Sarah Dessen

Louna’s mom runs a highly successful wedding coordinator business and she’s essentially the right-hand lady when it comes to helping her mom and business partner make sure the brides have the wedding of their life.

The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine

Wren’s family owns a King Arthur themed catering hall and despite thinking her life is pretty dull, saving someone’s life one night at work changes everything.

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

Emaline works at a beach town realty company over the summer and soon gets roped into helping one of her guests, a New York documentary film maker, get the behind-the-scenes scoop on a local artist.

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West

Caymen works at a doll shop in order to help keep her family afloat. She often sees ridiculously rich people come in looking for the best of the best. It’s here when her perception of everything changes.

since you've been gone by morgan matson

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

Emily’s best friend has left her in the dust, but not before making sure she got a job at a local ice cream parlor. Along with her newfound job, Emily also has a bucket list of sorts her bff left her to accomplish over the summer. 10/10 would recommend this one!

This is a REALLY fun list! I spy so many books I either *really* want to read or love.

I adore anything with Kasie West’s name (or so far that’s been true), really want to read a Sarah Dessen novel (despite loving the contemporary genre, I’ve yet to read one of her books) and am really excited to read Morgan’s latest. Hopefully soon. I’d also forgotten about ‘Zoe,’ a book I do own and am curious about. So thanks for the reminder, Christine!

Ooh I like this topic! I thought once that working at Disney would be so awesome, so I can see that one! And the Matson books have always looked like such fun summer reads- must be those summery covers. The Unexpected Everything makes me think an ice cream truck plays a role in the story, just because of that cover lol.

Oh how fun! I really want to read Since You’ve Been Gone. Not sure I could work at an ice cream shop though – I’d just want to eat it all the time! LOL
