Sunday Sit-down

Sunday Sit-down is a weekly recap post inspired by the Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on the blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Happy Sunday, everyone! This past week my extended family and I went on vacation to our favorite small town low-key beach. My uncle and his family live about 8 hours away from us so we hardly ever get to see them. We’ve all been going to this beach for as long as I can remember. My mom’s two step brothers and their kids used to come too meaning there was anywhere from 17-19 people all staying in one house together. This year we only had 10-13 people come down because of conflicting schedules. Once us kids all started getting older it’s become harder and harder to get everyone’s schedules to align. Being in the south and in the summer, it thunder stormed almost every single day but I got some pretty cool pictures out of it so it was fine by me. It was a lot of fun getting to catch up with my family and do absolutely nothing but hang out on the beach, drink, and eat all week!

This was my favorite reading spot of the week!

During Amazon Prime Day I became the proud new owner of a Kindle Paperwhite! I’ve been reading egalleys on my ipad or phone for years now and I always get such bad headaches from it that I couldn’t read the book for very long at a time. I’m telling you, this Kindle has changed the game completely. I don’t know how I have lived this long without one. It really is just like reading a physical book except it weighs less, I can have a whole library without having to carry a bunch of books, AND it has a reading light automatically attached. I love it!

Currently Reading

The Authentics by Abdi Nazemian is about an Iranian-American teenager who has to do a genealogy project for school. When she does, she discovers there’s more to her family than she originally thought. This started out kind of shaky but it quickly got to be a pretty interesting read. I’m about 60% finished with it.

That sounds like a pretty good week! Love the pics too, especially that first one. Ah the beach. 🙂

Congrats on the Paperwhite too! Ha ha I’m loving mine so far, and the reading light is so awesome.

I’m really curious about This Is Not The End, it has such a unique premise. Have a super week!

It was a very relaxing week! Thanks 🙂 I was a little wary about getting the Paperwhite. I honestly just wanted the regular Kindle that didn’t have a light but my mom was the one who bought it for me and she decided the PW was the best option. I’m so glad it’s the one I got! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to read on it for very long without getting a migraine but so far it’s been amazing. No headaches at all! I’m about 20% into THIS IS NOT THE END and it’s fairly interesting so far. It’s told in a non-linear way where each chapter is either the present or a couple of years in the past. I haven’t really gotten to the meat and potatoes portion of it yet but I like it so far!

Storm and books (plus coffee) is the formula to happiness. Have a great week! I personally think thunders are cozy XD

Those pictures look heavenly! What a place to read 🙂
I was also a victim to the Amazon Prime Day sale — I ended up with a Fire Tablet, my first e-reader in years. I have to say I’m enjoying the whole e-reader thing too. Even if it’s not a real book, it does have its advantages.

I love my paperwhite! I have an iPad as well, but you cannot read outside or under a light with an iPad. The no glare was what sold me on my kindle.
The beach looks lovely and I am jealous!

Hurray foe the Paperwhite! I read on a cheap tablet but it’s definitely better than reading on my phone!
I hope you had a wonderful beach trip! I wish I was a bit closer to the coast so I could capture some of those storm clouds. I made the drive last year and it was absolutely gorgeous on the beach after it rained!
    Have a great week! 🙂

Vacation! Jealous! We’ve only had weather like that one dark picture of yours 😀 so not really vacation weather. I’d love to see the beach this year, but I probably won’t get to. That’s too bad 🙂
    Your reading spot looks amazing!!
Congrats on the paperwhite! That’s my main and pretty much only reading device. It’s absolutely great 🙂 I keep telling everyone it’s great, but they keep thinking it’s not much different from a phone. How much more wrong could you be!
I didn’t know they had those in white though. Mine’s black 🙂

I live on the Gulf Coast and recognize those storm clouds. LOL They are impressive when they roll in. And I do love our white sand beaches. Even though it’s so hot to walk on! Sounds like quite a vacation. I love my Paperwhite. Even more than my Kindle Fire. It’s great for reading at night. And outdoors you don’t have a problem seeing the screen because of sun glare. Great choice!

I love the shore. Every year I say “next year” and we never manage it. But maybe next year… I love reading on my Kindles, too. The cat loves it because I have a free hand to pet her while I am reading. I hope you are having a wonderful week. 🙂
