Stacking the Shelves (22)

October 26, 2013 stacking the shelves 21

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This give bloggers a chance to showcase what they have received in the mail, bought, received for review, won in a giveaway, etc.

I forgot to make a post last week so this week’s STS includes goodies I’ve gotten over the last two weeks.

As always, click the cover image for the Goodreads page.

You may want to go buy it sooner than later. I’d hate for you to accidentally come across a spoiler. Apparently they are all over twitter. I had to avoid it while I read!

    • Christine P

Ohh no! Did you mean to read the spoilers? I hate that people just post them all over the internet. It’s hard to avoid them. I hope you do read them, though! Even though ALLEGIANT wasn’t my favorite, I’d definitely still recommend reading. The series is really good, despite its issues. I really liked INSURGENT!

Thank you 🙂 I haven’t read anything by Morrill before but I have a lot of friends who loved MEANT TO BE. After the last couple of books I’ve read, I’m looking forward to a nice contemporary. Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂

Holy crap, Pippi is freaking adorable! I’ve been avoiding anything to do with Allegiant like the plague. I have it on order at the library, but it hasn’t come in yet. I haven’t been on Twitter for a week (not that I’m on that much anyway) because I heard somebody was posting spoilers. I have Being Sloane Jacobs. I’ve read the first couple of chapters. It is pretty cute so far, but I’m focusing on a couple of other books before I really dive in. Great’s cover is lovely. I’m both skeptical and enthralled by the idea of a YA Great Gatsby re-telling. Great haul! I hope your weekend is grand!

Isn’t she though? You can’t really see her face in that picture and despite how incredibly annoying she is, she is pretty cute. She’s my sister’s yorkipoo.

GOOD. Seriously, don’t get on twitter. I didn’t get on for 3 days while I waited for my book to get here and while I read it. I’m not entirely surprised that spoilers are everywhere but it is so annoying. We shouldn’t have to avoid something like that just so it isn’t ruined for us. I hope you like it. I feel like Roth’s flair from DIVERGENT just sort of disappeared. There were a lot of plot holes too :/

I can’t wait to start BSJ. It doesn’t come out for awhile so it’s lower on my TBR list. But after ALLEGIANT and now I’m reading FAULT LINE, I feel like I’m going to need a cute contemporary.

I am feeling the same way about GREAT. I saw it on EW a couple of weeks ago but was like, ehhh, there’s no way a retelling of the Great Gatsby is going to be good. But, the more I thought about it and looked at the cover and summary, I figured I’d give it a shot. Here’s hoping it’s good! Hope your weekend was just as lovely 🙂

Nice stack this week. I love the cover of Fault Line, and I’m hearing a lot of great things about Allegiant. I hope you enjoy them and have a great week!
    My STS

I really like the cover of FAULT LINE too! I hate to admit this, but I had no idea what the picture actually was when I first saw it. It took me awhile to figure it out. I’m pretty sure somebody told me on one of my WoW actually haha. I started it today and it’s good so far, a lot of tough and shocking issues but I’m really liking Ani so far. ALLEGIANT was good but not my favorite of the three books. The ending is so sad! Thank you so much for stopping by, Jillyn! 🙂

🙂 She is such a spoiled little brat. She’s technically my sister’s dog but literally follows ME around 24/7.
My copy of ALLEGIANT took much longer than it was supposed to getting here. I kept seeing all of these people talking about it on Twitter before it arrived. It was so hard to not come across a spoiler! I hope it gets to you soon! The conclusion is sort of jaw dropping. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  3. Reviews from a Book Worm

Great haul and that dog is toooooooo cute!!! I’m only 54% in Allegiant and really don’t like it so far. It kind of feel like a regurgitated version of book two, just with different groups of people. YAWN! I don’t even think the ending will upset me anymore, I’m upset enough. Am going to enjoy reviewing this one though! Enjoy your reads. My STS

    • Christine P

Thank you! 🙂 She’s my sister’s dog but I’ll take full credit for her cuteness! YES. I think you’re the first person to have mentioned that out loud. I thought the exact same thing. DIVERGENT & INSURGENT literally only took me about 15 hours to read. I started each book and would not set them down unless I absolutely had to. With ALLEGIANT though, I had a hard time sticking to reading. I’d read a chapter or two, get bored, and set it down. I felt like I had already heard all of this before but with maybe a slightly different subject matter. It wasn’t as climactic and impactful as I was hoping it would be. It let me down in that aspect for sure. Can’t wait to see your review on it!!

    • Reviews from a Book Worm

I know, it let me down so much as well. Was not what I was expecting at all, didn’t seem to have the same impact or action that I had come to love with the first two books. I have a spoiler free and spoiler filled review. Spoiler free one is here and probably less rant filled!

    • Christine P

How are you liking ALLEGIANT so far? I’m trying to find as many people as I can and see if they felt about it the same way I do. It seems like a lot are in agreement with me, unfortunately. I’ll be sure to let you know how THE 100 is!

Thank you for the giveaway heads up!

  4. Nick

I got Being Sloane Jacobs as well this week and I’m more than excited to get to it. It sounds so adorable. Great also looks really awesome and I can’t wait to get to it. That’s such a shame that Allegiant didn’t work for you. I know it didn’t work for a lot of people, so I’m not really surprised. It seems like the author might have done a bit too much. I haven’t read it but I won’t be reading it either despite having really enjoyed the first 2 books.
Enjoy your books this week! 🙂

  5. Alexia Boesen

I finally got my copy of Allegiant this past week. I need to keep reading it and try to avoid spoilers. I got Being Sloane Jacobs 2 weeks ago from NetGalley. I need to keep reading that one. I did get Great from Edelweiss this week. My Stacking the Shelves will be up tomorrow, so stop by if you get a chance 🙂
