Hey guys! Happy Monday! I’ve decided to start participating in a new fun weekly meme called “It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?” It’s hosted by Kathryn at the Book Date and is a great way to show off what books you’re currently reading. I thought I’d participate because as you know, I’m not the best at coming up with original discussion posts or anything like that but I love talking about what I’m reading! So here we go!
*Just Finished Reading*
I just finished Invictus by Ryan Graudin (releases Sept 26!) and LOOOOVED it! It’s about this group of time traveling kids who must go back in time to steal some precious and valuable artifacts from history to be sold on the black market. All is going well until an unexpected visitor joins their crew and changes everything they thought they knew about themselves, time travel, and the world.
The writing was fantastic. I was hooked from the first couple of pages and could not put this down. It had everything you could hope for in a time travel adventure: thieves, mystery, bad guys, red pandas, history, costumes, and pretty awesome characters to beat. My review goes live Thursday, 9/21!
*Coming Up Next*
Anyone besides me read the Lockwood & Co. series by Jonathan Stroud? No? You guys are so missing out if you don’t! The Empty Grave is the 5th and final book in this series and I am so freaking sad. Excited because yay new book! but also sad that this is the end.
This series is about a ghost-infested London where only kids/teenagers can see and thus stop the hauntings and Visitors from scaring away and potentially killing London’s residents. Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlyle, and George Cubbins are some of the best out there and are always up for a challenge. Each of them has a particular gift that helps find the source that draws the ghosts into this world, fight the Visitor, and then capture the source and destroy the ghost within. If you like witty and resourceful characters, ghosts, mystery, sword fighting, banter, and incredible writing this series is for you, I promise you won’t regret reading it!
My sister is getting married this weekend so I’ve been super busy helping get all the loose ends together before the rehearsal dinner and ceremony this week so I haven’t read anything in a couple of days. I’m hoping to start The Empty Grave sometime today or tomorrow. What are you currently reading? 🙂
