Blog About Your Dog Monday
I finally got my dog’s DNA results back! I was slightly disappointed, although I predicted exactly what was going to happen. I said from the very beginning that she was probably just a big mutt and has come from a long line of mutts. I was correct, partially. Anyway, here are the results! *drum rolls*
What I anticipated to happen: the “mixed breed” strewn across the whole thing and probably a Lab mixed in there somewhere
What I did NOT anticipate to happen: She’s a Chow Chow???
Man, given her short, slightly coarse hair, huge rib cage, kind-of short floppy ears, and normal sized snout, I would have never guessed she’s 1/4 chow chow. Never in a million years. I guess that does explain her very “mid size dog” height, her color pattern, and very expressive face. I wish the DNA could have hinted at whatever else she might be; it’s so fascinating!
Well ladies and gents, there we have it! Mystery solved.
Blog about your dog Monday!
Everyone, I think it’s officially time to introduce to you my dog. In 15 days, I will finally know what kind of dog she is. Once you look at these pictures, you’ll be just as confused about her origins as I am. She’s got silky smooth ears like a golden retriever; yet, they are short like a terrier. Her fur is super short and sheds like no other. She’s got a GIANT rib cage with a tiny waist — think greyhound. She’s got a spotted tongue like a lab and a sort of saggy mouth like a pit bull. Her eyes are rimmed in black, making it look like she put on eyeliner. When she sees a ferocious dog off in the distance, she’ll crouch to the ground and the hair on the back of her neck, along her spin, and around her tail will stand on end backwards — think rhodesian ridgeback. It makes her look like a dinosaur 🙂
World, meet Fergie!
She loves dressing up. I’ll share some other pictures of her dressed up next week! She is about a year and 2 months old. I rescued her from a shelter last summer. She’s a pain in the butt most of the time but is the perfect pest controller. She absolutely LOVES people and eats me out of house and home. Thankfully, her favorite treat is ice (yes, ice). She will tear up a toy in less than two days, just to get to the squeaker. She’s such a diva!
